Here is the first post of what I hope will be somewhat short notes of what we've been up to. We are Tara and Nat, a married couple in our mid-30's preparing to move onto a boat and sail around the world.
Our home port is Portland, OR where, since Feb 2011, we've been building our experience on the water using the boats of Island Sailing Club. Nat learned to sail early and has owned a Hobie 16 since 1999, but didn't really understand how to properly sail until taking classes from the club with Tara. Until sailing on the Hobie 16 after she met Nat around 2009, Tara had never sailed and held little experience on boats. We have both since completed American Sailing Association certifications 101 through 106.
For over a year we'd been putting several hours daily into remodeling an old house Nat had when we got married. It was completed in July and quickly sold finally closing in August. Now we are looking for a blue water live-aboard sailboat to buy with the proceeds from that project.
Let's leave it there for now, more to come soon (hopefully)...
